God's Overflow
"For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks" – Luke 6:45

Grace Mail – 12/21/09

I get “Grace Mail” from Calvary Phoenix every day in my email… today’s was great!

“Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness.” 1 Peter 2:2-3

Have you ever heard of kimchi? It’s pickled cabbage, and I love this stuff! It’s Chinese cabbage that you get pickled in the grocery store that are hot, vinegary, and sort of salty. I could go for a piece right now. Every Sunday night, it’s kimchi time. We stop by the grocery and pick up a bottle of kimchi and we eat it with popcorn. I get a craving for that once in a while. I get up at two o’clock in the morning and say to Leslie, “Honey, I’ll be right back.” She says, “What are you doing? It’s not kimchi is it? Honey, you’re addicted to that stuff!”

I crave the Word of God, don’t you? If you haven’t been in the Word of God for seven days, you begin to hunger and long for it. Maybe you don’t realize what your hunger symptoms are, but you begin to get a little shaky. You start to get a little spiritually pale. You start being a pain to everyone around you. That’s a real giveaway, you know, that you haven’t been in the Word. You’re not going to make it in the Christian life without time in the Word of God every day. Do you understand that? That’s not passé. It’s not just something that Christians used to do and now we watch video tapes or DVDs.

* You will find that it strengthens your soul.
* You’ll discover that the Lord speaks to you through His Word.
